CATTLE RETURN TO MIDLANDS AGRICULTURE SHOW
Cattle will be on exhibition when the 2016 edition of the Midlands Agricultural Show kicks off on Thursday.
Last year, no beasts were on exhibition after some parts of the province were hit by foot-and-mouth disease.
Midlands Show Society official, Patrick Chademana said they had engaged the services of a veterinary officer to be able to exhibit cattle at this year’s show.
The show, which runs up to July 31, will be held under the theme, Enhancing Economic Growth in a Dynamic Environment.
“Unlike last year, this year’s edition of the agricultural show will witness the exhibition of cattle and we have since engaged the services of a veterinary officer,” Chademana told journalists at a Press briefing last Friday.
He said 130 stands had already been taken up, with 19 new exhibitors showcasing, an improvement from last year.
Chademana said the increase in exhibitors was an in indication that despite the economic challenges the country was facing, Midlands was still making efforts to revive its collapsing industry.
